SUNFLOWER AND SAGE ON SUNDAYS

The noose tightens
Around creatives,
Slowly cutting the life flow
Many gasping for breath;

Sharing widely,
No longer an option
If you want to remain
In bed with the man,
Creating matching dents in matching pillows
With a heavy head
And heart —

Wondering
If that was the best solution
To the problem
Often spoken;

Options
Given a choice to tick or not
As the clock tick it’s last tock on freedom
Obligation
To whom the pen tolls;

Shackling eyes
As the keys scroll
Baring your creative soul
For the gold,
Hey, you’re in the fold
But not one cent gained
And still will I listen
Complaints on earnings;

Twisted in tight knots made of silk sheets
Taste of bitter
Wishing for sweet,
Freedom
To spread thoughts and ideas to millions;

It has always made the mare go,
As slowly you step
One foot in front of the other,
Burden getting heavier
You mumbled,
sour grapes
words caught in your throat,
All I wanted to do was write, dammit!

We need some sage this morning, cleanse this energy!
