Let Mindless Thoughts Reign

Lose the war, win the battle — A poem

A feeling place

A loving space

A soft spot

That gets filled with me

and welcomes me

Where I’m one with myself

All alone but not lonely.

I find that time of quiet

So tranquil

And calm

That any thought racing around in my head

I hear so loudly.

As they proudly

Declare

Themselves kidnappers

Of my only space

My private place.

Of tranquility

That little locus

Of intense focus

Of me

and me

Deep inside of me.

I let them play

Cuz not today

Would I fuss

And fight

And lose

For sure

This battle.

A debacle.

So learned long ago

To let thoughts romp

Let them enjoy their sugar high

Until they crash

And burn

And are whisked away

To the place where thoughts go to die.

Idle thoughts

Useless thoughts

Thoughts not fit to be heard

For they never help

Me to enjoy my own space

Of peace

With grace.
