I can so relate to what you have written here, Dan J.
I had an article that went viral (by my standards) recently. It was raw and controversial but quite liberating for me as the writer. There have been so many negative comments that I have stopped reading them all - both the good and the bad. I now sigh loudly whenever I see a new one in my field. And then I wrote another story on my article that went viral; I put a disclaimer in the subtitle so that I would not be accused of click baiting. The article was honest in that I really did not know; had not a clue as to why it happened and I had no intention of pretending that I did. It was not for congratulations though, it was for fun. If you are not writing on Medium for the money, it might as well be for the fun!
Thanks for this share; I have always enjoyed your work.
