Did I Tell You How Much I Love My Body?

Every spot and scar — A poem

As it creaks

And sighs

And cracks

And snaps

I whisper to it, I have your back.

As it moans

And groans

And splits

And breaks

I assure it lovingly of my faith.

That all these cells for oh so long

Have served without complaint

They repair

Renew

Restore

Rebuilt

And love me without restraint.

I thank this body every day

For keeping me sane and well

Despite the coming on in years

I still won’t trade or sell.

For no newer model

Can ever be

As hand in glove

As this body and me.
